UEC is WA's oldest and largest SCUBA diving club and has a distinguished history. Formed in 1954, UEC conducted WA's first organised SCUBA diving school two years later and the high standard of our instruction impressed the authorities so much that we were given the responsibility of training the original Police Diving Team in Perth. UEC was involved in a lot of shipwreck exploration. Many wrecks on our coast, particularly in the metro area were discovered by UEC members. In the 1960's and 70's our members provided the core of workers for the early museum expeditions on the Dutch wrecks such as the famous Batavia at the Houtman Abrolhos islands. Today, UEC members are involved in community clean-ups, monitoring of local environmental and even rescue support at the Avon Descent. With so many members of different ages and backgrounds, the Club enables divers to enjoy WA's great underwater environment, as well as participate in a vibrant social scene. Joining The UEC is more than just a dive club. As a Club member you will enjoy;
