Nurses Quarter's & Fish Hook Bay (Double sanctuary dive)
Time & Location
About the event
Our most popular site - and a great place to see WA's Grey Nurse Sharks, as well as huge schools of fish and resident Bull Rays. (Note: this site is prone to strong currents). Nearby is Malcolms wormhole, a dark and tightish tunnel swarming with Crayfish opening out onto a large amphitheatre.
Fish Hook Bay:
Diving and snorkelling in this delightful little cove is a very pleasant experience as there is plenty to see in the way of marine life. Fish and rays are common and soft coral and sponge growth plentiful. Most diving is done on the eastern shoreline and around the eastern headland, just outside of which huge caves have been scoured out by the tides and surge. These caves tend to be rather dark and dead in the inner-regions. Some care with torches and air supply is needed here because of the extensive undercut rockfalls, cave galleries and long dark tight tunnels that lead off the caves. The western side of the bay and its headland is slightly shallower on the inside but deeper on the outside. This is a favourite site to lunch at due to its calm surface even on the roughest of days.
