We set off with 11 divers, which included a nomination diver, Henri Maisonnave. Welcome to UEC Henri. I hope you had a great day.

There is something very comforting about getting to the pen and finding MB and Marcus, the DO for the day, hard at work. Mike had the boat running and prepared before I boarded. A little disappointed a cup of tea and pastries weren’t on offer, but beggars can’t be choosers.

We set off to Deep Gully for the first dive and, by all accounts, all the divers were delighted. Especially a group of four practicing their navigation under the expert tuition of Mel when they had a brief encounter with a small bronzy. Very nice.

Second dive was an educated guess from Mike around the most likely position of Anders Meander which has been a point of contention about its real coordinates. We are now confident, with Malcolm’s blessing, that we have found its true position.

It consists of various large structures with overhangs, a couple of swim throughs and lots of fish, including a blue groper, catfish, soft corals, large nudies and colourful sponges. A very nice site and worth further exploration.

Everyone loved the site, which sits in about 20mtrs of water with an additional spot to the West around 25mtrs which included some nice gutters and a cave.

Conditions on the way home cleared into a beautiful trip home, although the trip around West End was a bit bumpy- wasn’t it Mel! 😜😂🐠🤮

Thanks again to MB and Marcus for making a really pleasant day on the water for the punters who dived today.

Friendly Onboard Reminder

Just a quick heads-up that there are soft drinks available in the fridge onboard Cape Cruiser, and seasickness tablets are also on hand if you need them. Both are available for a small donation — you’ll find the donation jar inside on the counter.

2026 Club Trips

We’re heading to this laid-back Indonesian island for crystal-clear waters, vibrant reefs, and the chance to spot big pelagics alongside healthy coral gardens. With uncrowded dive sites, warm water, and a relaxed island vibe, Pulau Weh dive resort is shaping up to be a 2025 favourite. Please note this price does not include flights. However, we are planning on doing a group booking to save money, so no need to book your own flights.

Important Information for Dive Bookings

• Please do not book dives for other divers. If we receive double bookings from one diver, the second booking will be automatically cancelled.
• If you would like to receive notifications about dive cancellations, please email divebookings@uecwa.com.au with your name and phone number to be added to the WhatsApp group.
• Important to note that you cannot cancel dives using the dive calendar. Cancellation needs to be made by email directly to divebookings@uecwa.com.au

Please note our cancellation policy below as per the club bylaws:

Cancellations between 07:45 and 16:00 the day before: 50% cancellation fee.

Cancellations after 16:00 the day before: 100% cancellation fee.

No-shows: Full event fee.
