We had a lovely day at Nurse’s Quarters with four sharks in residence, no current, great vis and fourteen very happy divers. We then headed to Fishhook Bay for lunch and the surface interval, after some confusion on sites we headed out to Servant’s Quarters which also did not disappoint, blue grouper seen and some crays, many with tar spot unfortunately. We also had a bit of current here which did not stop our wonderful divers from getting back to the boat….. Thanks everyone, no pickup was needed by me as DO. The crew was privy to a lovely ‘huge’ humpback whale coming close to the boat about 100 metres and giving us a tail slap to make our day. All in all, weather was great, albeit a little grey early in the morning, but the sun broke through about lunchtime, giving me my first touch of sun for the summer. A great day diving and crewing thanks to Donna (Me) and Steve Day (Skipper). Also, a huge thanks to everyone who helps on board. You pay for your dives but also help so much. Your support is very much appreciated. Donna Gratton

It was sunny, noisy, and a fun-filled afternoon for the first ever UEC sundowner. The Shoe, in Yagan Square, is close to public transport and is a vibrant area and a fun place. 24 members enjoyed a great catch-up at our very long table. There was lots of “Hot Seating” as people swapped places, to catch up with those they hadn’t seen for some time. There was a plethora of conversations running too, topics including, when did you last dive and where, where are you going on your next dive trip, have you dived such n such a site, and when are we scheduling some single-tank dives, along with, “Can't wait to find out where the next Club dive trip is". The drinks were cold, and the food was hot and good. Our pizza certainly was. Everyone enjoyed themselves, no one seemed to be in a hurry to leave. The consensus was a keenness to hold a repeat of the event at The Shoe in early Jan 2026. Thank you to everyone who attended, and thank you for supporting our club events. I’m already looking forward to seeing you next time. Liz Davey

Please send your nomination (and a short note on why they deserve it) to pr@uecwa.com.au by November 30th.
