Dive Report - Sunday 12th October

A near full boat, save for 2 unlucky punters that booked off late in the week.

Conditions were amazing, with clear skies, less than a metre swell and light winds proving true to forecast.

First site was Parker Point drop off, the top of wall is 8m with 22m at the bottom. Water temp was 18° and vis reports range from 25-40m. Plenty of crays around though many with tar spot.

After a relaxing lunch break in Salmon Bay, it was just a short trip to our second site, near Sandy Cave. The site itself was far enough away from Sandy Cave to be a new site, magnificent country and we’ve marked it as ‘Sandy Cave 2 - big cray’. Vis was same or better, and on the day there was no surge or current. Damo bagged out and the rest of us fisherman got a decent feed too.

Boat was expertly crewed by John and Trevor, thank you both. The turnout for post trip de-brief was a little light on – if you can, join us the pub after the day’s diving — it’s the perfect place to keep the bubbles going (the fizzy kind this time).

Inaugural Sundowner Event

Sundowner @ The Shoe Bar.png

We’re making a splash above the waterline!
Come join the Underwater Explorers Club WA for our very first Sundowner at The Shoe Bar, Yagan Square on Saturday 25th October, 3–5pm.

We’ve booked an inside table for the club, so come along for a relaxed afternoon catch-up with fellow divers, a few laughs, and maybe even some tall tales from below the surface.

Let’s be honest — with all the windy weekends and high swells lately, most of us are getting a bit stir-crazy waiting to get back out on the boat. So let’s swap the dive gear for a drink and enjoy some dry socialising instead!

The Shoe is just steps from Perth Underground and an easy stroll from Elizabeth Quay Station – so getting there is a breeze. It’s always lively, the drinks are cold, and the company’s even better.

Whether you’ve been diving with us for years or are new to the club – this is your chance to unwind, reconnect, and kick off what we hope will become a regular tradition.

No wetsuit required – just your sunny self!

Whilst this is a free event please secure your place by booking on via the app.

Squid Fishing Trip

Ready to swap your fins for fishing rods? Come join us for a day of squid-catching shenanigans! We’ll head out for some laughs, a few tugs on the line, and (hopefully) dinner swimming straight into the esky.

Details:
🦑 When: Sat 8th Nov, 9am–3pm
🦑 Cost: $20 adults (kids free!)
🦑 Gear: Club has squid jigs & a few rods, but bring your own if you can
🦑 Bring: Lunch, warm clothes, and kids’ life jackets if needed

It’s a fun, family-friendly day on the water – perfect for all ages, whether you’re a seasoned fisher or just hoping to meet your dinner face-to-face. Don’t miss it!
