Joining the UEC

Nomination Dive

You must be a certified diver to at least an Advanced Open Water level or equivalent and will need to show your certification when you board the boat. We charge a nomination fee of $85 prior to joining the club. This is charged on a per-diver basis and, in return for paying the nomination fee, we will give you a free double dive on our boat, called the nomination dive (note if you elect to only do a single dive the fee is still the same).  The nomination dive gives potential new members an opportunity to try the boat and see what the UEC is about and then to decide if they would like to join. There is no obligation to join after completing the nomination dive, but you will only ever be able to do one nomination dive before joining the club. Members are able to pay EFT or cash for their boat diving.

To book a dive, go to the membership tab at the top of the page, click on join or renew and select a nomination dive. This will allow you to enter your contact details and access the dive calendar to book your nomination dive. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, and during summer, it is recommended that you book at least one week in advance. In winter, although there are dives scheduled every weekend, the dive trip will depend on both the weather and on having a minimum of six divers booked. You will also need to provide a mobile contact number when booking. The dive will be confirmed by email the evening beforehand.

Club Membership

Once you have completed a nomination dive and you decide to join, you are then welcome to pay your membership fee and join the club. Alternatively, you can join the club without doing a nomination dive, and we would classify your first dive from the boat as your nomination dive. The cost of the nomination dive is the same as a double tank dive.

Membership fees are payable on a financial year basis (i.e. July 1st to June 30th). The fees for the financial year 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2025 are as follows:

  • UEC Ordinary: $240

  • UEC Family: $440

  • Student & Junior: $50

  • Social: $30

  • CIO (Country, Interstate, Overseas): $30

  • Nomination Fee: $85

 

Note: that family membership is applicable to family members who live at the same address. Student membership is for those in full time education and junior membership is applicable to those between 14 and 18 years of age. Junior members may only dive with their legal guardian or parent.
